Emerald

Emerald is a variety of the mineral beryl, characterised by its vibrant green colour due to trace amounts of chromium and sometimes vanadium. Its chemical formula is beryllium aluminium silicate. Emeralds are typically found in igneous, metamorphic, and sedimentary rocks. Significant sources of emeralds include Colombia, Brazil, Afghanistan, and Zambia.
