Aragonite

Aragonite is a carbonate mineral, one of the two common, naturally occurring crystal forms of calcium carbonate, CaCO3 (the other form being the more widely known calcite). Aragonite typically occurs in marine environments, forming in mollusc shells and as coral. It's also found in hot springs deposits and cave formations (stalactites and stalagmites). Aragonite is colourless or white but can take on various colours due to impurities. Significant sources include Spain, Morocco, Mexico, and the United States.
